Is it really a Triple J Hottest 100 winner spoiler if I’ve never heard of the band?

lenier:

The winner usually has some kind of (alt/commercial) crossover appeal right? It’s pretty suspect.

I know, I know. “Curt, you don’t even listen to Triple J, how would you kow what’s popular?” Because I still have musical awareness.

Just because I couldn’t hum you Grizzly Bear’s ‘Two Weeks’, doesn’t make me ignorant of ‘the kid’s music’.

A pretty big name wins this poll every year. Something is weird.

LENIER (although he doesn’t really care) AND I AGREE IT’S A HOAX

TRIPLE J WANT SOME ATTENTION!!!

NOBODY (that tells the truth) likes Tom & Alex, and The Doctor isn’t exactly killing it with his one-man Drive Show.

Although I did vote for Mumford & Sons “Little Lion Man” in my TOP TEN http://wannabuyaduck.tumblr.com/post/337301259 (and I really do like the song) there are still bands like Muse, Eskimo Joe, Franz Ferdinand, Hilltop Hoods, Powderfinger, The Prodigy, Vampire Weekend and Wolfmother that can’t be written off.

And still take into consideration Them Crooked Vultures, Paul Dempsey, Bloody Beetroots, etc…

As lenier said, a crossover artist with enough commercial push nearly always wins.

JJJ have a mainstream double CD to sell later this year and I think Mumford & Sons might just be a little bit “too JJJ” to pull it off.

With over 1,100,000 votes this year and thousands of $$$$ through Centrebet it just seems like too much of a slip up!

Should still make for an enjoyable countdown but
